Since its launch in April 2005, look at what Shop Arlington First has accomplished:
- Sold more than $70,000 worth of certificates
- Redeemed more than $42,000 (60%)
That’s money that has been spent in Arlington. Not at the big box stores. Not at the malls.
This year, the Chamber is placing even more focus on the importance of thinking local first when it comes to shopping, with or without the gift certficates. Here's why:
- When you spend $100 at local Arlington businesses, $32 leaves Arlington and $68 stays in Arlington.
- When you spend $100 at non-local businesses, $57 leaves Arlington and only $43 stays in Arlington.

Local businesses support the Arlington community, day in and day out. Every time you decide to shop local first you support the businesses that support the schools, the sports teams, the non-profits, the churches. Local, businesses enhance Arlington’s sustainability and build an even stronger and more vibrant community in which to live and work.
